Nowadays, learning a language is so important that it is
required for applying in jobs, traveling and making business. People want to
learn a language because they can have more opportunities in life. The most
demanded language is English, so we as teachers have to be prepared for
teaching those people, in the classroom, we have to teach important aspects of
the language, and the aspects are some specific skills to manage the language.
Those skills are called Macro skills, and we can take into account sub skills
of a language.
In simple words, the macro skills are four, and they refer
to the capacity that person has to
manage the use of listening, speaking,
writing and reading of a language. For everybody, it is important to have those
skills if we want to be fluently in a language. We as teacher have to teach
students to apply those macro skills in their lives. It is important to mention
that when learning a language, children always learn to listen and to speak
first. The same happens in learning a language because people learn to listen,
to speak, then to write and to read.
Listening
It is the ability of communication that requires that a
person understand, evaluate and interpret what she or he is hearing. Listening
is an oral skill. When a person is able to listen, he or she can catch the code
that another person is transmitting. A person can hear, but if he or she does
not understand. Communication does not take place.
Speaking

Writing

Reading is the ability to understand and comprehend the
written form of a language, it is useful to share information and transmit
messages.
Sub skills
They are what people need in a language. They are aspects
such as grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and spelling, intonation. To use the
language properly, people need to manage those things. For example, grammar is
useful to write and speak correctly. Vocabulary is useful for writing and
speaking, and spelling is useful for writing, reading and so forth.
