6.Constructivism

In education, we can find many theories and psychological currents that help teachers to teach in a better way. Those theories can help to understand how students are and how they behave. Also, it teaches to make our students learn. Now, talking about theories, constructivism has influenced the way of teaching because It is not focus on learning from books but also learning from the environment. It is important to mention that Ernst Von Glasersfeld was the creator of this, and Jean Piaget with Lev Vygotsky were the ones who continued contributing in in the theory.

Constructivism is a psychological theory applied in education. It is based on how students learn new things; also, it is based on how students build their own learning. In short words, students learn by themselves. Students construct their own understanding by experiences they have and previous knowledge. Students relate new knowledge with old ones. For example, a student learn to make science experiments on YouTube, but he does not practice. When he goes to the classroom, he does not find too much difficult to make the experiment as other because of the previous knowledge he has.

                           Characteristics
To understand more constructivism, let us see some traits.

First, learning process is meaningful. It comes from the result of the process of constructing meanings. Students can learn something they want and something that is going to be useful in their lives. Second, the curriculum is open and changeable. It means that teachers can break the monotony and make different plans and methods to teach, and they can learn by differentness ones It is no going to be the same of traditional teaching, for example, reading lectures, going to school and sitting down, and so on. Third, the goal of constructivism is to teach students to solve different problems in life, so learning is active. Fourth, students are the center of learning process because the teachers do not talk too much. However, they are just facilitators.

Different roles
In constructivism, teachers and students play different roles. In the case of the teachers, they are not the protagonists in the classroom, but they are facilitators and guides for students. In the case of students. They are the protagonists, active learners, and the people in chart on their own learning.

In conclusion, constructivism is a  good  option to apply the classes, and it has many advantages because students can learn by their own and think critically to solve real situations.
